Autism
Autism is a difference in how a brain takes in and responds to the world. It comes with real strengths and real difficulties. Support should help people live well as themselves. It should not aim to make anyone seem less autistic. Both sides of MOEˣ, for kids and for adults, follow this.
Language
Adult pages say "autistic person," which most autistic adults prefer in published research. Some people prefer "person with autism," and that is their choice. Kids pages often say "your child" and describe traits, because parents arrive at many different points.
Diagnosis and self-identification
A formal diagnosis matters for legal accommodations and some services. Many adults also self-identify, and the autistic community widely accepts that. MOEˣ treats both as valid and doesn't require either to use anything on the site.
ABA therapy
Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is widely used for autistic children and often covered by insurance. Some families report real benefits. Some autistic adults describe harm, especially from programs that focused on compliance or trained children to hide autistic traits. Researchers continue to debate the quality of the evidence.
MOEˣ doesn't tell families whether to use ABA. It helps them judge any provider by the same standards: the child's comfort and consent, no punishment, no goals about eye contact or "quiet hands," real progress data, and parents welcome to watch. See Before you say yes.
Cures and products
There is no cure for autism, and MOEˣ doesn't treat it as something to cure. Be cautious of any product, diet, or supplement that claims to treat or reverse autism.
Getting help from people
MOEˣ is built to work without anyone having to talk to anyone. When a person is needed, like a doctor, therapist, or assessor, MOEˣ gives questions to send in writing, scripts, and checks to make that contact easier and safer.
